Sock Design with Colour!
Today we’re talking about our Wildflower Meadow Socks. Highlights:
Everything you need to knit the socks is dyed right into one skein. There are two matching gradient sections for the body of the sock, and enough of the contrast yarn for the colourwork.
Look at how smoothly the gradient flows over the heel! This took work! When a sock has a heel flap, there's extra yarn at the back and it usually leads to a jarring colour change on the front of the sock.
We planned out the colours in the skein to give enough yarn for the heel, and the pattern shows you how to add it in smoothly.
Our Sun and Moon socks have a totally different look but we approached that design in a similar way, with attention on making sure the heel flap doesn't interrupt the smooth gradient.
These socks were designed as part of our yarn + pattern club. Signups for this summer’s club open May 22.
