Lacy Projects You'll Love

Things I love about lace:

  • The rhythm of knitting once I’ve got the pattern memorized. It’s so soothing.

  • How it can look like a crumpled mess before blocking and transform into sheer magic after.

  • The geometric lines that can be created by stitch patterns.

  • The variety - there are so many lace options!

  • How dramatic it looks - lace projects are so impressive when they’re finished!

Here are a few lace projects I think you’ll love.

Top Left: Platinum or Gold is a classic triangle shawl with a straightforward and simple textured lace pattern. This is one to try if you’re new to lace or want a relaxing pattern. And as a bonus, you can knit a kerchief as shown in fingering weight yarn, or go for a bigger worsted weight shawl.

Top Right: Sentiment is my most popular lace pattern. It’s got instant gratification written all over it with that super bulky weight yarn. It’s a great crescent shape with a lace pattern that’s the next step up in complication level from Platinum or Gold.

Bottom Right: I wear these little socklets, Wendee, all the time in warm weather. They whip up fast and feature a sturdy heel and a delicate stitch pattern.

Bottom Left: For maximum lace drama, go for a lace half pi shawl like Seaspray. Knit in lace weight yarn, it’s an investment project that’s sure to be an heirloom.
