Lakeside
The chill lake water was crisp on my toes, but a perfect combination with the hot sunshine. I’m not a person who loves to jump into the water and just swim, so instead I took a stroll, wading deeper and deeper until a long time later, I found myself in up to my chin. Finally I let go and dog paddled for a while, alternating with standing and an unskilled back stroke. My method of swimming may not be traditional or quick, but I like it anyway.
Of course being outside, I had to also be taking pictures. I find that I struggle with taking landscape photos, but I think I got some good practice and the scenery helped. Here’s some of that practice and a reminder for all of us to take a few deep breaths.
A wide blue landscape of a lake with layered mountains in the back in varying levels of shadows.
Mossy, shaded trees in front of a bright lake in a gradient from pale near the shore to dark teal further into the water.
A deep teal lake with trees and plants along the near shore and evergreen trees across the way.
A landscape of wild grass, teal lake water, and tree-covered mountains with puffy clouds in the sky.
Closeup of the underside of a sword fern covered in orange sori.
A mountainside covered in evergreen trees with a dark teal lake at the bottom.
A sock knitting project on the needles next to a colourful ball of yarn in front of a teal lake.
Calm lake water in front of tree-covered mountains. Wispy low clouds are in the sky in front of the hills.
A lake and shaded mountains at sunset with a sky that fades from peach to blue.
A teal blue lake at sunset with trees and mountains in front of a pink sky.
My sister-in-law Nalisha Estrellas is an artist in so many ways. I was delighted to capture some very ghostly long-exposure images of her fire dancing at sunset. See more images of that on Instagram.
Nalisha is dancing with a two-sided fire wand it front of an epic lake scene.
Closeup of Douglas Fir tree branches.
A red dock plant among dry grass in front of blue lake water.
I hope you’re seeing the colour palettes from this collection! I’m very into the deep teal and green one and the pink/teal/purple sunset one.
