Rhinebeck Sweater Ideas
Okay, not all of us are going to Rhinebeck (Knit City, anyone?), but I do love the idea of planing and making a project to show off at a fall event cause no one appreciates your hard knitting work like a crowd of knitters!
So here are some projects to impress knitters, friends and strangers alike. And please, if you do make one of my patterns for your fall event project and you see me, please come up and show me! I LOVE seeing FO’s and promise to be appropriately impressed.
Top Left: Skull & Bones Pullover is a classic circular yoke pullover with a cheeky skull motif. This is a great first sweater because it’s worsted weight, so relatively quick to knit, and the design is relatively simple. Find this pattern in my book, AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary. (And if skulls aren’t your thing, get adventurous and try a different motif from AlterKnit!)
Top Right: If you’re running short on knitting time, Botanical Beach is a great choice. Knitters will be impressed by your colourwork skills with that beautiful wave motif, plus you can make matching hats for your whole crew since it’s come in four sizes for folks child to grownup.
Bottom Right: The very recognizable Knitter’s Dude is always a winner. Challenge yourself with some fun colourwork and clever raglan shaping for a great fit. (And yes, there are baby & kid sizes available in the Little Dude, so please dress like your baby.)
Bottom Left: Clothes have always been political. Show off your love for the Notorious RBG (and your mad colourwork skills) with Dissent, a sweater inspired by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Dissent jabot.
