Yes, it's springtime again!
I'm just utterly delighted that spring is here. I really love tiny textures and flowers are such spectacular subjects. And since this is the first year I’ve tried photographing birds in the spring, it feels particularly special.
We have two cherry trees in pots on our balcony and last year they had just one bloom between them, so I was ecstatic when they both really bloomed this year! Now to watch and see if any of those develop into fruit! This post is full of golds and greens, plus a pop of pink from a trillium that’s already turned from white. I think they change colour after they’ve been pollinated.
It was so hard to pick just one song sparrow photo to post because they were really performing for me! I saw this one at Cattle Point and they were super abundant with a very lovely song, as their name implies.
Having all these flowers on my balcony or as a part of the view out my window really makes home feel decadent these days. I know they won’t last long, so I’m trying to savour them every day. I’ve tried to capture the golden glamour of that big leaf maple, but it’s impossible. It’s like a magical fairy tree that can’t possibly be real. But then I see them just out and about everywhere! If you have them where you are, take the opportunity to gaze at their glory while the abundant flowers are there!
And this male hummingbird stuck around the same spot for so long that I left before he did. Those feathers! That beak! Those tiny feet! It’s a creature that seems so improbable and I’m just filled with gratitude to get to share the world with such beings.
I hope that you’re soaking up the season wherever you are and that these photos gave you a minute to take a breath and enjoy the beauty we get to live with.
