5 Springtime Knits
A Few Accessory Ideas
It’s just barely starting to happen here — warmer days, little blossoms popping out, and a bit of sunshine. Spring brings me so much joy! Here in Victoria, the weather is particularly variable at this time of year, so I always make sure to bring a few extra accessories along on my outdoor adventures in case of a strong breeze or light rain shower. Here are a few favourites that I think you’ll love for some springtime knitting!
This versatile design includes instructions for worsted and fingering weight yarns in sizes from baby to grownup. It’s also the perfect swatch project for making a Dissent Pullover or Dissent Cardigan. Practice your colourwork and enjoy the sweetness of a quick project!
2. Witty’s Trail Mitts
Cozy mitts are perfect for doing a little beach photography or being out on the trail when you don’t want to keep your hands stuffed in your pockets. Make a pair with a pretty diamond motif on the hand or keep it simple with the clean, broken rib pattern. This project has lots of options for your favourite sport or DK weight yarn.
3. Three Seasons Shawl
Need a meditative, intuitive knit for those special skeins of very soft yarn? Three Seasons shawl has an engaging texture that’s easy to memorize. Go find that Gauge Dye Work yarn in your stash or use up your leftover sock yarn. The pattern includes instructions for the original Gauge yarn and for substituting to get a similar effect, plus instructions for a smaller shawlette and a full-sized shawl.
4. Botanical Beach Hat
Crashing waves adorn this worsted weight hat, some meditative colourwork that will keep your ears warm on beach walks and forest hikes.
5. Full Circles Cowl
This clever cowl is worked as a flat rectangle with pretty textures and big circles motifs (I think of full moons, but maybe they’re more of some warm spring sun?) One seam creates the faux-shawl shape that will adorn all your transitional outfits.
