Knitting by the Lake
WIP — FINALLY!
This sweater has been on my mind for years and now it’s finally on my needles! That means I bought the yarn (in February, 2021), swatched (in January, 2022), did a massive number of calculations in Excel and drafted the charts in Illustrator (last month), and now I’ve actually cast on!
It’s a cardigan knit in pieces (hooray for seams) with all-over cabling goodness. I’m going to be extra prepared for autumn sweater weather this year!
I find knitting cables to be both motivating and soothing at the same time, so I think it’s possible I’ll finish the sweater in record time, particularly since I’ve been taking it with me everywhere I go and doing a lot of walking while knitting.
One of the joys of making a seamed sweater is that each piece is small-ish even in worsted weight wool. So it wasn’t unwieldy for me to carry this back piece in my fanny pack and knit as I walked by the lake.
Here’s me being sensible about avoiding the sun including my too-sporty wrap around sunglasses, dorky foldable sun hat, and long sleeves. Please enjoy my classy lady look and some pretty things I saw on my walk.
Curious about this sweater?
