Reversible Hat Video
Want a Cozy Winter Hat?
You can’t go wrong with a reversible, doubled toque like Full Spectrum. This kind of hat is knitted as a long tube, starting from one crown and ending at the other crown. To wear, you pull one side inside the other for the very cushy, warm hat. Here’s how it works:
Full Spectrum Toque
In the video I’m highlighting the Twinkle colourway from Gauge Dye Works since that limited edition yarn is available just this week. (Here’s a post with more suggestions for patterns to go with the Twinkle yarn.) That sample was made following the pattern except leaving out the geometric colourwork pattern. Here’s the original hat from a Gauge collaboration. One side has a groovy rainbow and the other features geometric colourwork.
This pattern is so versatile
In another version of this toque, I opted for a deep ribbed brim rather than fully doubling the hat. I held a regular fingering weight wool together with a strand of mohair silk for extra fluff and just did a tubular bind-off after completing some extra long ribbing. Read my post with more details on how to make this version here. (The sweater in the next photo is Dissent Pullover.)
You can buy the pattern for Full Spectrum here on my website or on Ravelry. For more ideas on how many ways Full Spectrum can be knit, have a look at the many Ravelry projects made by other knitters.
