My Experience
Where I got it: I bought it from the Kelbourne Woolens website
Needles I used: 2 mm/US 2.75
Blocked Gauge I got: 32 stitches/42 rows = 4"/10 cm
My Thoughts: Perennial is super soft and has really beautiful drape and a tiny bit of shine. The recommended gauge on the ball band has a pretty wide range (28-36 sts = 4”/10 cm) and I made my swatch right in the middle of that at 32. I like it at that gauge because it gets so much drape from the alpaca content that keeping the stitches snug gives a really cohesive and beautiful fabric.
But the real reason I was drawn to this yarn in the first place was the colour! I was searching the Kelbourne website for something else entirely, but I saw that hot pink and was smitten. It’s a true neon in my opinion and I adore how warm the colour is. (And if you like your hot pink to be a little more fuchsia, they have that colour too!) I didn’t need this yarn for anything, but I wanted it, and when I saw it in person, it was just as bright and popping as I’d hoped.
What I might design with it: I think this would be a fantastic hat, like maybe a simple ribbed beanie with a folded up brim. I can also see making a textured shawl or cowl. Whatever I make, I know it’ll glow.
Where you can get some: Check your local yarn shop or head over to their website.
